Dreamwalking
Dreamwalking is a hereditary ability found in all sapient races regardless of channeling ability or other attributes. It is in essence lucid dreaming and astral projection, depending on the person's level of ability -- in dreamwalking, your level of ability allows you to control your own dreams to varying degrees, and/or travel to the dreams of others. Some particularly adept dreamwalkers have even been rumored to communicate with others via their dreams, or even influence them once inside them.
Additionally, if a dreamwalker is able to project themselves, most report being able to see or detect the Ega of the waking world and/or other people; in this sense it can allow non-channelers to glimpse what most channelers can choose to see naturally. This advantage has seen numerous applications both at a domestic level and in espionage or times of conflict -- especially given that dreamwalking can bypass any Ega-based cloaking or illusionary effects -- though finding a dreamwalker whose ability is reliable and in their control is often difficult, and as of yet there appears to be no way to guarantee either or strengthen the ability.
“It’s similar to how some channelers are very proficient at reading aura signatures, I’m told. I’m not a channeler, of course, and I only remember what little my mother explained to me: some people, channelers or not, can become lucid in their own dream and in that manner, see or detect the Éga of the waking world, including the auras of others.” .... “Sometimes they can recognize an aura signature, the same way a proficient channeler can recognize one in the waking world. It’s like seeing a lamp in the dark.” “Did you enter Unliore’s dream, then?”Aramastus Danig has inherited a mild talent for dreamwalking from his mother, though it occurs randomly without his control (and sometimes knowledge).
“She wasn’t dreaming herself, so no. But her Éga was like a lamp and in its light I could pick out a few clues. Those distinctive painted windows and hanging lanterns of that bathhouse, for example."
