Holding

A Holding in a general Icalaran sense is a basic educational establishment in many communities, with or without a specific end career in mind. For example, some may act as seminaries for potential initiates to the Order of the Burning Crown or may specialize in training basic channeling techniques, or they may simply offer standard secular education. This term has also carried over into the Shogu Holding, which serves a similar role.
Potential Shepherds of Leaving are often identified in Holdings offering channeling or Burning Crown instruction, whereupon they are sent to a House of Leavings. Similarly, prospective priests may be relocated to a Cloister if their Holding does not offer targeted instruction.
The young attendees are colloquially known as 'Holdlings'.
