The below is a list of common Icalaran vernacular.

-- an improving situation; refers to the Palace constellation
"Blessèd Éga" -- channeler (usually Shepherd) "oh god" / "what in the hell"

-- a plant (but not tree) preferring sun
climbing (his/her/their) banks -- straddling another in a sexual fashion; see bankclimber
"clouds below" -- secular "hell" (e.g., "or, hell, XYZ" > "or, clouds below, XTZ")
fraymate -- a comrade-in-arms
"Great Ones be merciful" -- Crownist "god help us" / "heaven help us"
"Ieb preserve us" -- Crownist "god preserve us" / "heaven help us"

nightguard -- a night watch; used as a singular noun and collective noun
paperlock -- a letterlock, used for mail security in addition to wax seals and tughra
shadeflower -- a plant (but not trees) preferring shade

"truth burning" -- secular "oh god" / "what in the hell"
"Xados give me strength" -- Crownist "god give me strength"
