Long Wake, The
The Long Wake is an ongoing, cross-nation cultural event considered to have begun immediately following the release of the Plague of the Bitter Hand on the 33rd Day of the Season of Ripening, 989, at the peak of the Widow's Siege of the War of the Six.
The name was so chosen because the sheer number of deaths from the Bitter Hand plunged nearly all countries into a constant state of mourning as all resources became focused on quarantining and treating the infected, comforting the dying, and tending to the dead. It is not yet considered to have ended, though this is perhaps on the horizon (albeit joylessly).
