Maetes (MAY-tesz)

Maetes, along with the Bane Star and the Wellspring Star, is a particularly bright star with a white light, and due to its prominence is considered in Icalaran astrology to be one of the three major stars. It is not part of any constellation, but is used in navigation as a shifting pole star due to its remarkably straight east-west line of travel; Maetes and the other two major stars, traveling equidistant from one another, make this path known as the Heavenly Road. Maetes is at the center of this road.
