Physicia (Fih-ZISCH-yah)

Physicias are the non-channeler counterparts to Clerics, specializing in medical services ranging from everyday pharmaceutical work to midwifery to surgery. Due to technological limitations Clerics are often more common than Physicias, especially in smaller communities -- larger cities often have the luxury of possessing a small cadre of Physicias, enough for them to organize as a practice.
'Chief Physicia' is beginning to emerge as a title given to the most sought-after in a country; Fieron and Phidene's parents for example are the talented Chief Physicia of Ustraria and have one of the first dedicated hospitals and medical schools in Icalar (the Eburos House), which is beginning to impose standardized levels of training/qualifications on the profession.

Formerly random at worst, vague standards at best, with word-of-mouth testimony of skill/success more prevalent than formal training; lately attempts are being introduced for formal training.
