Ayn
Ayn: capital of the once-great kingdom of Rhufbar, which is now not much more than 40 miles across. Its ruler still gets to call himself a king though, between the prestige, and more importantly, the money that comes through being in charge of one of the larger and more central "metropolises" in the reflection.
Government
Ayn is a feudal city-state. Its internal laws and governance is run by some sort of local council bureaucracy (run by the wealthy) and it is represented and "owned" by a member of the nobility, who is in charge of it instead of a larger plot of land. Although he still calls himself a king, and does have some power and prestige, he is not currently the top dog in the reflection as a whole. This is sort of a balance of power, and sort of a division of labor, because its too big for one person to both run it and represent it at the King's Court (which is ironically in another city).
Defences
Walls. Gates. Probably a portcullis.
Industry & Trade
A big center of trade, especially the trade between foodstuffs (fish from The Sea of Wrath) and farm goods from the coast to the east and manufactured goods from the west and south.
Infrastructure
Its got the standard medieval stuff. Walls and a rudimentary sewer system, roads and some marketplaces. Nothing crazy.
Assets
What does make Ayn stand out from most other cities is that it has a rare connection to The Libraries , even if it is now mostly defunct. There is a lot of prestige attached to that, and its library is spelled with a "L", not a "l". A decent number of the more common folk have forgotten this connection, or are not even aware of it, but among the movers and shakers this is what makes the city the most notable.
