Drek Kyther was a once legendary thief and rogue who became something of a hero in the expanse sector.
Born on the streets of Acuri as an orphan without a credit to his name, Drek learned early that in order to survive on the harsh streets, you needed to take what wasn’t yours less someone else does.
Turning to petty crime, Drek spent the first 10 years of his life stealing from the market stalls of vendors and breaking into homes just to make enough to live another day. These early years sharpened Drek’s natural abilities in stealth and slight of hand to become the best thief on the planet by the time he was 15, pulling off larger and riskier heists each time to resounding success.
Soon enough, legends and stories began to spring up around Drek and his daring deeds of thievery, hushed rumours about a lone human who had stolen a priceless artefact from the estate of planetary councillor Mara’ga or where he had slipped passed 100 armed Lepokiten to make off with a Corpo’s prized pleasure ship all became attributed to Drek.
With these talents and impressive reputation, Drek earned the name ‘’Drek the Daring.’’ He began selling his services to various clientele across the galaxy, beginning a 20 year cosmic journey which saw him pilfer and rob hundreds of locations and people, growing richer and even more legendary with each job.
However, all good things must end, and this began with Drek’s increasing reliance on strong liquor and substances to take the edge off between his daring adventures, soon the wears of time began to approach too, his body wasn’t as nimble, his wits not as sharp and eventually, during a job to steal battle plans from a high ranking general of the Ratrizar Empire, a half drunken Drek was caught mid infiltration due to his carelessness. A fight broken out, with the thief barely escaping at the cost of his eye.
The bad luck did not end there however, and following a string of repeatedly disastrous jobs that saw Drek nearly apprehended several times, the legend of Drek began to fade. Turning to the bottle even harder than before, his use of liquor, brief flings and life of debauchery to cope eventually earned him a new moniker: ‘’Drek the deviant’’’ Despairing over his fading name and profession, he searched for work wherever he could. This eventually led him into the employ of Forlugi, a Ualgom Grelak who was happy to use Drek to perform odd-jobs and low level heists for his own benefit.
