Fomuxins are a bipedal crepuscular species from the planet Crekanan VII. A famous example of the early test results by the Cult of Xitan, these artificially evolved species are the subject of much rumour and suspicion.
Biology:
The world from which Fomuxins originate, the titular Crekanan VIII, possesses a unique orbit wherein it's celestial body is tidally locked, giving the two sides of the planet scorching deserts and frozen wastelands. In the gap between these two climate extremes, a thin sliver of area, known as a terminator zone, a region of perpetual twilight where the Fomuxins call home. Due to the nature of their world and their dusky existence, Fomuxins have evolved to sport very sensitive smell and hearing, able to detect even the faintest scents from 5km away while hearing potentially prey before they are even seen. Their eyes, while numerous, are the least developed of their sensory organs providing only 60% of a humans vision. Despite this, they are excellent navigators and hunters, especially in dark environments.
History:
For tens of thousands of years, the Fomuxins dwelled in the caves of their world as little more than animalistic hunters and scavengers, living in small packs among the caves and caynons of their world. It wasn't until the arrival of the mysterious Cult of Xitan did their entire society change. Over the course of several generations, the Cult of Xitan conducted all manner of experiments on the Fomuxins, increasing their size, granting them opposable thumbs and most importantly, a great increase of their intelligence. By the time the experiments had concluded, the Fomuxins had undergone a forced evolution from cave dwelling animals, to a cohesive society, pocketing Crekanan VIII with tribes, worshipping the Cult's members as if they were gods. Once the Cult were satisfied with their tests, they departed the system, leaving behind several scraps and remnants of their presence. It was from these artefacts that the Fomuxins reversed engineered their own technology, eventually reach interstellar travel to make contact with the rest of the galaxy.
Society:
Every Fomuxin hails from one of the 20 tribies of Crekanan VIII, while the tribes are unified under their Crekanan Central Committee, a conclave of each tribe representative meant to conduct galactic relations and resolve internal conflict, each Fomuxin is extremely proud of their heritage. Fomuxins often take their Clans name as their middle name as a way to identify their origins within these tribes. Fomuxins exist in family units of 20-30, with older Fomuxins all equally dividing their duties to ensure the tribes prosperity and improve their standing, this also applies to off world Fomuxins who donate portions of their earnings back to their home. These donations are dependent on their tribes values, ranging from peaceful trade to piracy and war.
In the present:
Fomuxins can be found in many walks of life in the present, most are simple folk trying to provide for their families and tribes in the galaxy any way possible. Their culture is built around the worship of their ''Gods'' being of course the Cult of Xitan. While the majority of the galaxy views the cult with understandable disdain for their role in creating various abominations throughout the galaxy, the Fomuxins hold fast in their reverance for those who lifted them into the stars. This has led to suspicion and discrimination against Fomuxins in several regions, who are treated as unnatural freaks and potential threats.
