The resident mechanic of the Kerrano, Hotch (despite their constant pranks) has served Nialia as part of her crew for the last 6 years, having been instrumental in designing the upgrades and maintenance the ship requires on a regular basis.
Having graduated from the Sylvanius Prime Academy of Applied Engineering through their rather unique demonstration of jettisoning themselves in low orbit on just a rusty chair and a pilfered Fusion Reactor Engine, Hotch was never expected to enlist in the Star Corp and serve in active engagement. Often considered a loner and a little deranged, in their early years, Hotch faced scrutiny and envy by their colleagues who had grown resentful of the Horchari's pranks and lofty ambitions, frequently attempting to sabotage their efforts in invention and maintenance, only to find themselves the victim of harmless booby traps laid out by the Horchari in their workshop.
Eventually Hotch's talent's were recognised by the upper echelons of UC command, and they were assigned to oversee and work on board the Kerrano. It was here, during their initial months that Hotch's true talents for unique modifictions was recognised by Nialia, who collborated with Hotch on many of the designs and updgrades the ship has since undergone. While never one for combat, Hotch is reliable when it comes to holding rank, saving the crew from critical failure multiple times by ensuring the Kerrano never faltered, a trait many have come to respect them for, if not for the pranks that come with it.
