Kobarians are a feared and industrious species of humanoids, known for their enhanced cybernetics and use of cosmically charged weapons.
Biology:
Kobarian biology compared to many other species, does not deviate much from the base humanoid traits, their eyes and larger ears offering some extra sensory capabilities in dark environments. Where the Kobarians excel is their use of advanced cybernetics. Originally used to better survive the surface of Okupolgelth, most if not all Kobarians have some form of cyber-augmentation that greatly enhances certain traits and abilities, granting an edge that would otherwise be missing from a base Kobarian. These augmentations, far more advanced than other species, include ocular enhancements, allowing for greater perception, thermal scanning, and live data input. Artificial limbs and organs, allowing Kobarians to greatly increase their strength, speed, durability and age. Neural connectors, typically replacing their hair follicles with an assortment of adaptable cables, capable of directly linking their brains to software systems.
History:
Evolving in the harsh environment of their homeworld Okupolgelth the Kobarians had to adapt and learn on an almost constant basis to survive their planets unforgiving ecosystem. While basic agriculture was achieved through the farming of edible mushrooms found in the deep caverns, the discovery of valuable ore deposits was the true turning point of Kobarian society. Learning the use of these metals and minerals at an astounding rate, the Kobarians industrialised rapidly, constructing vast cities and factories across the planet in just a matter of centuries, greatly increasing their population, production and scientific knowledge. So entwined with their love of technology and cybernetic enhancements that after achieving space travel, the Kobarians were assimilated into the domains of the Ratrizar Empire, who promised the Kobarians even greater opportunities for technological development in exchange for turning Okupolgelth into their primary factory world. Now ruling under a designated council, the Kobarians oversee much of the Ratrizar fleet and weapons manufacturing, with many Kobarians taking up rolls in the Empire's ranks as weapon experts, researchers, fleet operators, and wartime strategists.
Society and Culture:
Technology is deeply rooted in all aspects of Kobarian life, to augment oneself with more and more cybernetics is a sign of prestige and strength among the populace, and those in power often seem more machine than Kobarian in appearance. As a testament to their understanding of technology, the Kobarians are one of the few species able to produce and operate cosmically charged weaponry, while still limited, these powerful weapons can strike fear into even the most hardened of foes, with Kobarian Technomancer legions often spelling the end for combatants of the opposing side.
