The Oogari are a sentient species of cephlapods that inhabit the Milky Way Galaxy. Known for their multiple eyes and tendrils, these beings are at the forefront of commerce and mercantile trade through the cosmos.
Biology:
Being invertebrates, Oogari bodies are incredibly squishy and gelatinous by nature, their skin secreting an endless supply of sticky, wet slime that allows them to glide along surfaces and even fit themselves through the smallest of gaps. The most notable feature of the Oogari are their 4 large eyes, capable of detecting a broad range of colours including infrared and ultraviolet. Their eight long tentacles are used for both movement and interaction with the outside world, allowing them to perform complex multi-tasks with ease.
History:
Like most life across the stars, the Oogari began their humble origins within the deep sea’s of Jutagig. There they thrived as scavengers and bottom feeders, scrounging the ocean beds in search of morsels to subsist on while avoiding larger predators. It wasn’t until the nearby sun of Jutagig began to expand several thousand years ago did the Oogari get their moment to shine. As the oceans began to evaporate, changing the landscape of the planet drastically, the once planet spanning oceans quickly began to shrink into little more than inland seas and lakes, this rapid terraforming of Jutagig saw many of the Oogari’s natural predators become extinct, allowing the otherwise insignificant cephalopods to rise from their depths and slowly settle both on land and water. After several millennia of development they had reached space travel and came into contact with the larger galactic community.
In the present, Oogari have retained their opportunistic and scavenging tendencies, applying them to the world of commerce to become some of the most successful traders, entrepreneurs and governors across numerous worlds and factions. Oogari can be found in all walks of trade from slavery to corporate leaders, they often have no incentive other than personal wealth and influence and are more than content to climb above the rest of their brethren if it means achieving what they want.
