Tizoads are an amphibious race of humanoids originating from the planet Ku. Known for their aquatic capabilities and incredibly low intelligence.
Accidental Spacefarers:
The Tizoads very much lucked their way into the galactic community. They are an amphibious, bipedal frog-like race from the planet of Ku who inherited their technology from the previous dominant species who died out hundreds of thousands of years ago.
Little is known about this past race, simply referred to as “The Precursors”, but they were on the verge of beginning to colonise their solar system. Alas, decades of industrial climate change caused rapid sea level rises, submerging 80% of the planet’s surface and rendering it uninhabitable. The Precursors eventually wiped themselves out into extinction in the final conflicts for what few resources remained.
However, this new environment was one that the Tizoads thrived in and steadily evolved into the species they are today. Once they became intelligent enough to access the knowledge of The Precursors, the ancient technology helped them accelerate their scientific advancements and after only a few decades, Tizoads eventually managed to cobble together their own working spaceships.
Toddlers with Laser Guns:
Having another species do all the technological heavy lifting for them has left the Tizoads somewhat inept when it comes to handling such powerful engineering. Without the generations of maturity that usually follows a species before they have access to advanced technology, Tizoads tend to be reckless and volatile. They have been responsible for a number of high-profile spaceship collisions and general misunderstandings when it comes to interstellar protocol.
Tizoads are most fascinated by middling technology, the sort of stuff they skipped over on their unorthodox journey along the technology tree. Things like household appliances and novelty gadgets can keep a Tizoad distracted for many hours as they marvel at the flashing lights and spinning gears.
Fish out of Water:
Tizoads are well suited to their aquatic homeworld - they are excellent swimmers and can function for many hours underwater before needing to breathe, making them the apex predators in the oceans and lakes of Ku. They are also perfectly adaptable to life on land too. Access to water is not a requirement for survival beyond drinking it. Their skin does not dry out and their dexterous limbs allow them to navigate all kinds of terrain with ease. Their powerful legs let them leap over a dozen metres in a single pounce.
Intelligence wise, they are perhaps some of the most dim-witted aliens around and many speculate that without the fortune of The Precursor's technology, Tizoads would have likely never travelled outside of their own atmosphere.
They are easily fooled and taken advantage of, but are not totally harmless. They have an incredibly quick reaction time and can move their arms and legs at lightning speed, making them formidable at hand-to-hand combat. Many wannabe space bar tough guys find themselves unconscious on the floor after mistaking a Tizoad for easy prey.
