Biology:
A large and bulky species, Ualgoms have adapted exceptionally well to the rough environment of their world Drazeter, a land pocketed with vast meteoritic craters and extreme weathers. The Ualgoms possess a tough, leathery like skin that can withstand rough terrain and areas where they inhabit, their large nostrils holding three filtrating membranes that allow them to cycle out dust and other potentially toxic materials from the planets atmosphere. Some of the most notable features of the Ualgoms however are their unique heads, the conical appendages seen on the sides of Ualgoms are known as ''Theias'' and serve as auditory receptors that allow Ualgoms to detect sounds up to 20km away. The large ''domes'' featured on male Ualgoms are made or durable keratin that is used in combat between male Ualgoms to secure breeding rights and wives. While the domes of Ualgoms serve as excellent blunt force protection, their Theia's are extremely sensitive, with any sizeable force to them causing intense pain and disorientation for Ualgoms.
A semi-solitary species, Ualgoms live in small clusters of families, headed by a patriarchal male who will take several wives to bear his children as they traverse from crater to crater on the surface of Drazeter. When coming into contact with other families, competing male Ualgoms have been known to murder the heads of their rivals, taking their wives and exiling the children in victory.
Once a Ualgom has reached maturity, they will be forced to leave the family in search of establishing their own, thus continuing the cycle. This cultural practice and the meagre resources of Drazeter has been the leading effect as to why the Ualgoms have never unified as a species, despite their above average intelligence.
History:
Living as little more than barbaric nomands, frequently moving in small groups across the planet, Ualgoms can neither boast technical marvels or rich history save for their Deities. Having never unified under one leader due to their selfish and close knit behaviours, it is unknown how long their existence has endured due to the limited written history Ualgoms hold. If their sparse existence wasn't insignificant enough, their world of Drazeter, while historically littered with the remains of intense meteoric showers, the ores within the crust are of poor quality, only allowing for very crude and brittle metallic tools, weapons and components. As such, no one in the galaxy wants much to do with the Ualgoms and Drazeter, they are not the strongest, smartest or most resource rich species so little incentive is offered to even visit the world at all. Because of this, Ualgoms know next to nothing of the larger galaxy, and the only ones who have had any experience are ones who often never return to Drazeter. These few individuals are often abducted by smaller slaving and pirate vessels looking for some easy prey and carted off to be sold as gladiators, exotic displays or as labourers. Despite the obvious culture shock many of these abducted Ualgoms face, they have been remarkably adaptive to life among the stars, and those who have earned their freedom or otherwise escape quickly learn the ways of the galaxy and how best to survive, with some even rising to small prominence such as Forlugi Quarrix
