Ulu'agolis

Ulu’agoli are a unique species of native fauna residing in the upper atmosphere of the gas giant Cerrax. These extraordinary creatures, resembling large jellyfish, inhabit the carbon-rich clouds of Cerrax.   Biology:   Ulu’agoli are renowned for their distinctive characteristics. These colossal beings can reach lengths of up to 50 feet and employ specialized helium bladders to gracefully glide through the dense atmosphere of Cerrax. They use their long, trailing tendrils and bioluminescent displays to attract and capture smaller prey for sustenance. However, in times of scarcity, Ulu’agoli are equipped to filter and subsist on the microorganisms found in clusters within the planet's gaseous clouds. As apex predators of their world, their primary defence lies in their imposing size.   Discovery:   The Ulu’agoli were first encountered by Zolgurki settlers during the early stages of the colonization of Cerrax. Initially, there were concerns about potential disruptions caused by these massive inhabitants of the upper atmosphere. To the settlers' surprise and relief, the Ulu’agoli proved to be peaceful and benign. Lacking visible eyes, their rudimentary nervous system allows them to navigate past solid objects, and their tranquil nature means they coexist harmoniously with their environment when undisturbed.   Mating Habits and Reproduction One of the most captivating aspects of Ulu’agoli biology is their spectacular mating season. During Cerrax's winter solstice, when the winds in the upper atmosphere slow down, Ulu’agoli emit dazzling displays of bioluminescent light from their bodies. This luminous exhibition serves the purpose of attracting potential mates. Thousands of Ulu’agoli engage in simultaneous, sporadic bursts of bioluminescence, creating a breathtaking spectacle that has earned the affectionate moniker "The Cerrax Stars."   After mating, Ulu’agoli gestate large quantities of eggs within their bodies, eventually releasing them into the winds. This marks the beginning of a new generation of Ulu’agoli, continuing their mesmerizing life cycle high above the clouds of Cerrax.
