A bipedal race of amphibiods, Ungroks are a communal society of semi-primitives frequently serving as footsolidiers in the ranks of the United Coalition.
Biology:
Despite their singular eye limiting the Ungrok's depth perception, Ungrok senses are well developed, relying on their accurate olfactory smells and their single, curved antenna that is adept at determining distances utilising a form of sonar that feeds into their brain. Their bodies secrete a warm, slick mucus that serves as protections against both heat and cold no matter which planet they inhabit, classifying them as semi-extremophiles, able to exist on any oxygen based systems with little hinderance. Despite these impressive adaptabilities, Ungrok bodies and minds are more susceptible to exploitation, their soft bodies offering minimal protection against laser fire or melee attacks, while their limited intelligence prevents the majority of Ungroks from making clear, independent decisions, often requiring the guidance of a single leader to act promptly during times of conflict or change. Without guidance, Ungroks can become aimless, cowardly and panicked.
Ungrok society value strength in numbers and this is found in their explosive reproduction. Ungroks mate year round, with egg gestation lasting no more than a month before being laid in the shallow waters of their murky bogs. These eggs range into the thousands per clutch, and enough will often survive to birth two thousand Ungrok spawn at a time, sustaining their large communities.
History:
Given their more simple nature among the galaxies inhabitants. Ungrok history is almost non-existent. Having never progressed past the stone age, all recorded history was passed down through oral legends, thus when the United Coalition's expeditionary survey teams arrived to inspect Utan, the Ungroks looked to these travellers from the heavens as almost godlike beings. The decade folllowing, the UC set up gradual observation outpots on and around the Utan system, gathering as much information about Ungroki culture as they could, realising that their huge numbers could be used to benefit the United Coalition. Approaching the elders of the Ungroki tribes, a deal was made in which the United Coalition would protect and maintain Utan's freedom from hostile entities while the Ungroks would supply a yearly quota of warriors to serve as the Coalition's forward assault troops, an offer the Ungroks deemed acceptable for their ''safety''. Now numbering in the millions, Ungrok grunts serve dutifully as simple, but effective grunts in the UC's military, obeying every command from their officers as they serve across numerous fronts and outposts.
