Despite their formidable appearance, Zolgurks exhibit a paradoxical vulnerability. Their self-imposed genetic modifications redirect vital resources from their bodies to nourish their enlarged brains, rendering their physical forms weak and frail. This physiological trade-off is compensated by their advanced intelligence and the utilization of integrated power suits. These suits serve a dual purpose by regulating brain pressure and enhancing strength and durability.
History:
The evolutionary journey of the Zolgurks began as primitive, pre-sapient lizards on Zilobivanar. A transformative event catalysed their ascent, propelling them towards the development of cities, societies, and a rich cultural heritage. Upon encountering advanced alien species during their early ventures into space, the Zolgurks recognized the need for accelerated technological progress to avoid being overshadowed. Their pursuit of scientific excellence initially thrived, but progress waned, prompting a shift in focus to genetic enhancements.
In a bid to surpass their galactic counterparts, the Zolgurks embarked on radical genetic modification experiments with the ultimate goal of achieving intelligence levels far beyond their own capabilities. While successful, these alterations led to emotional imbalances from test subjects, with heightened sadism and anger and diminished empathy. Unfazed, the Zolgurk council deemed these side effects acceptable in the face of potential extinction. Mass genetic upgrades followed, but the unintended consequences manifested a year later, with rapidly expanding brains and diminishing bodies. To survive, the Zolgurks embraced advanced power suits, sealing themselves within to prevent catastrophic outcomes. These sealed suits acted as pressure valves to reduce the rate of which their ever growing brains expanded, creating a sealed environment for the Zolgurks to thrive.
Empowered by their intellect, enclosed in suits, and with diminished empathy, the Zolgurks undertook a conquest, subjugating numerous worlds. Faced with defeats by the United Coalition, their approach shifted towards economic dominance. Establishing powerful corporations and integrating into the Corpo Alliance, they became major players in resource production, notably Feorin Gas.
Zolgurks in the Present:
In contemporary times, the Zolgurks are often perceived as ruthless conquerors with formidable fleets and extensive economic influence. Their presence extends beyond their borders, bringing them into conflicts with rival corporations like Zthalab Industries and the Amoban Families. If you meet a Zolgurk, try to be flattering, they are less likely to disintegrate you when they inevitably catch you ogling at their ever-bulging brains.
