Tai'ja - Red Kingdom, 1509 Campaign Time

Tai'ja was once a free city-state run by four clans in the Merchant's Guild which has been under the rule of the Red King since 1498 RT. In the eyes of the once rebel group, the city was mismanaged and plagued with corruption during the clans' reign.

Tai'ja Exterior - The Port

The port is cut off from the main city by a stone wall which can be scaled with an appropriate check, but might require some discretion with the presence of Red Guard in the area. Additionally, there are three entrances into the city from here, each being monitored by a guard who is inspecting persons entering.   There is an inspection point at each of the three gate entrances. Visitors must provide sufficient documents indicating the reason for entering the city. Names are documented along with accompanying members if in groups. Passing inspection should be easy as long as the party doesn't provoke the guards or poorly disguise their weapons.

Tai'ja - West District

The streets of the west district are decorated in the colors of the red kingdom will billowing banners and ribbons of red, gold, and black. Clear of any debris, the paved roads boast of easy passage with carriages and hand-pulled carts zipping by with their passengers. The city folk boggart of their loyalty with the symbol of the red king emblazioned on their belongings, a black dragon wrapped around a golden wheel against the red background.   There is limited Red Guard presence on this side of the city, serving mostly as a residential area. It boasts the second largest market, the Grand Plaza, and also is home to the city's educational district. There are 3 main schools which provide tutiledge in vocational studies, military leadership, and statesmanship. They are referred to respectively as the following:

  1. School of Vocational Studies
  2. School of Military Leadership
  3. School of Statesmanship and Governance

Tai'ja - South District

The southern district is decidely deteriorating with a large portion of the buildings falling into disrepair, especially in the extremes of the southern district slums. Perhaps left as a warning for those who might dare rise up against the Red King. The streets in those areas are mostly barren save for a few who wander aimlessly along the paths. Hidden messages of resistance are painted along the rubble which the red guard mercilessly destroy when spotted.   Closer to the West District, the buildings are restored, though remanents of destruction are still apparent. The locals display far less affection for the Red King, demonstrating a tolerance for the rule of the Order and the guard. Merchants and businesses that were already established remain open. Of particular note is a cozy tavern known as "Mrs. Pot's Tavern and Teas." A favorite of the locals in the south district for its lovely owner and her unique companion.   A military base is located just above the slums allowing for swift subjugation of rebellion. The military sector connects to both the east and north district.

Tai'ja - East District

The east district is dominated by military might, with the majority of the inner circle consisting of the amy. Additionally, the slums occupy a large portion of the outer western most portion of this district. This district finds itself home to a variety of entertainment including several theaters and the large coloseum.   The coloseum functions as both a demonstration of the Order's might through Touda racing as well as punishment for criminals sentenced to death. The games can attract large crowds of the Red Crown's faithful and loyal subjects, though there are plenty who object to the cruel treatment of prisoners.

Tai'ja - North District

The North District is the best representation of the melting pot that Tai'ja is known for. This area is a place where various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds converge, making it a vibrant and diverse part of the city. It's bustling with markets, merchants, and traders from all over the world, offering an array of exotic goods and artifacts that add to its allure as a hub of international commerce.   It is at night when this district comes alive, the streets lit by unique paper lamps. Some of which convey the way to more discreet corners of the district, where one can find a collection of elegant and luxurious brothels, catering to those seeking companionship and comfort. These establishments are known for their opulent interiors, expertly trained courtesans, and discreet services.   It is a hub of entertainment and excitement, offering a wide range of experiences for both locals and visitors. Here, backroom gambling halls and speakeasies can be found, where fortunes are won and lost amidst the thrill of games of chance. The district is also home to a number of tattoo parlors, where skilled artists leave lasting marks on willing patrons, each design telling a unique story.
