Glaive of the Stalker

Kaswink has attached a glaive blade to the Prison Cell Bar she found along with several pieces of the crystals from the Refracted Stalker. The goal was to build up energy in the glaive to be released at a later time through two pylon crystals made from the same refracted stalker and attached to two more polearms. The expected result is to make a fence to catch fleeing enemies/animals for hunting, or even to make a sort of lightning lasso.   Kaswink tested this item on around Nurend 30th after it was completed. It seems that, since the creature wasn't capable of sustained arcs, the weapon is having a hard time with this as well. The use of the crystals was purely instinctual and designed to stop the heart of an enemy looking to attack it or its young. When the item was tested, instead of making a fence as intended, it instantly killed a fleeing deer.   More tests will need to be ran to make it act as intended.
Since what the Refracted Stalker was lacking was any sort of intent, the next step for Kaswink has been trying to find a way to imbue that into this weapon. She has traveled to and from Dorchar with hopes of acquiring such a thing. She was able to find some Obsidian.   Obsidian is ideal for improving willpower and helping a person get what they really want out of life. It also has healing properties that can help a person not only bolster their will, but also help guide them to their full potential. It is an ideal stone when looking for something to help with self-control and will.   The obsidian was used to line each Amethyst from the Refracted Stalker with the hopes that it would allow the energies that are stored within them to be more easily controlled. Three pieces of Obsidian were also placed along the handle of the Glaive, and one piece was placed in the stand of each pylon as well.

Current Form

Kaswink was able to test this item in the forest, and found the results much more to her liking.   It stores a maximum of five "charges".   Each piece of Obsidian glows, one at a time, as damage is dealt by the Glaive. The first pieces to start glowing are the ones attached to the pylons, then the three attached to the handle of the glaive.   Charges can also be stored by taking damage while attuned to the item. Taking damage first stores two charges if there are no charges currently stored. This fills the two pylons, and each subsequent attack dealt to the wielder stores a charge in the handle of the glaive.   These charges can be spent in the following ways:
  • One Charge from the Glaive can be spent to create a wall of Vibrational-Thunderous-Lightning energy between the Pylons and the Glaive. This is effectively a wall that the creature cannot pass through. Kaswink was able to witness a deer try to "hop the fence" which resulted in it being stopped and thrown back into the "pen". This is a trap that doesn't harm the creature directly, but could cause some small damage if it tries to leave and is dragged/flung backwards depending on the force of their attempted egress. This wall lasts for one minute.
  • One Charge from each Pylon can do the same as spending one charge from the Glaive. Basically, if you have three charges it costs one to power the fence, but if you only have the two charges in the pylons it'll cost two.
  • As long as there is at least one charge in the Glaive then the command word can be spoken to cause the Glaive to be surrounded in Vibrational-Thunderous-Lightning energy that deals an extra 2D8 Thunder and 1D8 Lightning with each hit. Kaswink noticed that she also seems to take a small amount (1D8) of thunder damage as she strikes a target.
  • Any Three Charges can be spent to cause a burst of energy from the Glaive and Pylons to strike a nearby target. Any visible creature within 15 feet of any piece of this weapon needs to make a DC15 constitution save or be stunned until the end of their next turn.
  • All Five Charges can be spent to cause a far more violent burst of energy from the Glaive and Pylons to strike a much closer target. To use this ability, the wielder must have both Pylons either directly next to them or in their inventory. When an attack with the Glaive hits a target, all five charges can then be used to force the struck creature to make a DC17 constitution save or die. Kaswink noted that using this ability also seems to cause her a great amount of pain (6d6 Thunder damage, no resistance, no save).
