Hemochronosis

Hemochronosis is a disease spread by Ticks. It currently affects Namina and Kaswink as they acquired the illness while traveling in Tympi's Forest.

Transmission & Vectors

It naturally occurs within ticks, and they feed off the lifespans of other creatures to sustain their own eratic age. This disease is spread from the tick to another animal through a bite while they are feeding off the animal's own lifespan. Once in the bloodstream of their victims it continues to circulate throughout their body and could be spread by subsequent bites.

Symptoms

Hemochronosis causes those afflicted with it to either become one year older or one year younger with each day. This aging could also be eratic depending on the health of the individual, environmental conditions, or just the disease itself leading to entire decades being lost in a day before reverting back to a more consistent rate. Conversly, the eratic nature of this aging symptom could skip a day. This means that some days someone affected by the illness could wake up not having aged at all or aged normally. Because of this, it is imperative that those afflicted find a way to replenish their years (as ticks do by feeding on the lifespans of other animals) or to find a cure for the illness before it causes too much damage. Additionally, it has been observed by Kaswink and Namina that this illness appears to cause aching bones.

Prevention

There are no preventative measures against this disease besides preventing ticks from feeding on you. This can be accomplished by wearing long sleeves, tucking pants into socks, dousing oneself in vinegar/coffee grounds/other materials that might ward off the ticks' interest.
