There was no light, not even Tympi and Ilven could generate enough power to penetrate the darkness that surrounded them.   Without light, what would happen to the village?

Tympi managed to gather the other leaders in the forests and throughout The Gates to band together against whatever was causing it.   Something had thrown everything out of balance. Wherever they went there was more darkness and the gates to the other layers seemed to all be closed somehow. Something was sealing them to dampen their influence.   With the assistance of a Helpful Spirit, the group of concerned community leaders was able to fully stop the creature that caused it, though they never did end up getting to see who or what was responsible.
