Katherine is from the city of Magnimar, where she led a mostly normal life for being born an Aasimar. Even among Aasimar she is unique being born with Crimson wings and hair. At the age of 17 her family was approached by members of the Crimson Templars, the leader identified himself as Azrael. He explained to her that the Order believes that she is a special Aasimar that was born with Ragathiels blessing and that they want her to join the Templars to undergo training. She initially did not want to join the Templars but resigned thinking this was a sign of fate and she is obligated to answer this calling. During her time with the Templars she spent most of her time in the Keep undergoing training and researching, with little interaction with the outside world.
