The Settling of Dunekeep

Founding

The city-state of Dunekeep was settled by the Shipdown Pirates approximately 500 years before the Astorian Ascension.

Seeking a refuge for their criminal enterprises, the Shipdown Pirates settled along the Marbled Bay, creating a small shanty town they dubbed "Dunekeep." The region changed hands and names multiple times, but it's current, and most stable incarnation, pays homage to the original name of the state and the original founders, in the form of the governing body of the land, the Shipdown Council.   Though it was founded as a pirates shanty town, years of growth and stubborn defense have turned Dunekeep into a metropolis of business, culture, and magic.
