Call of the Deep One
Some prepare for the Dunwich War by stockpiling arms or hiding in shelters that once protected their ancestors from the bombs. Others have been having dreams. Starting off as simply as any other REM sleep induced vision, they become so surreal that it becomes difficult to tell them apart from reality itself. Anomalies follow those that respond to the call heard during these trances, with many shedding powerful chem addictions or healing from lifelong injuries under miraculous circumstances. Those that resist the dreams often go mad with nightmares, warning others of the coming of Ug-Qualtolth and the end of the world..
While the rumors keep the common wastelander on edge, Moletown keeps those that rule the various regional factions up at night. The mysterious broadcast of numbers and short phrases has always put them on edge, but now the signal seems to have been boosted to cover the entire Dust Bowl. Partolled as if it held the world's last oil reserve behind its chain link fencing, fear keeps the masses in check while the Dunwich Society stack the deck in their favor and prepare to fulfill ambitions they have had for nearly half a millenia.
Although their grasp on the house of cards that controls the Syndicate has slipped due to their extreme actions, they have not lost dominion entirely, not by a long shot. Manipulating the Rad Farm and Los Verdugos into doing their bidding is just a matter of pulling the right strings at the right times. In the meantime there are many eager to prove their loyalty to the Society and earn a place among the inner circle. Given great challenges, those that manage to impress the Harbinger can expect rewards beyond their wildest imaginations.
