The Rad Farm

A lynch pin in the ghoul empire, many of the oldest members choose to spend their time in this open-air fortress. Between the crater from China's atomic gift and the leaking nuclear power plant, radiation levels get so high it creates audio and visual distortions. This creates the perfect habitat for the multitude of mutants that call it home, allowing them to heal from grievous injuries in relative comfort.

Painstakingly cleared of rubble and debris, much of the ruins have been restored to the pre-war aesthetics. The lap of apocalyptic luxury, it still operates much as it did before the war. Although the wares have changed quite a bit, some shops even boast to have had the same staff for over two hundred years. Such care is taken to hold up the illusion that only their own vehicles are allowed in the market district. Polished, waxed, and freshly painted, these restored classics ferry syndicate members to and from the cat houses and parlors as if nothing has changed.

Because of the unique environment, many glowing ones congregate here. Those with sentience are chosen for leadership positions in the caste, both for symbology and practicality. Ferals will instinctively follow them into a fight, and since the beasts make up over half of the thirty thousand that live here, it is a good talent to have. Some have been stylized as religious figures or sit in political offices, while the rare few are recruited directly into the Dunwich Society.

The Syndicate

Composed of three major factions, this alliance has proved mutually beneficial for the past two hundred years. Even with their drastically different ideals and desires, they have found a way to coexist and even thrive in the chaos after the Great War. The Lux Ferre simply want to entertain and be entertained, and there is little need for them to leave the Rad Farm to do so. Los Verdugos are happy serving as law enforcement to provide security so long as they can do it their way, feeling a duty to society to protect them from madmen. Content as silent benefactors, the Dunwich Society quietly moves pieces around and pulls strings out of sight. Most of their efforts are to keep the Syndicate intact, however they definitely have their own hidden agenda and are not timid about pursuing it.

Main Sources of Sustenance

Fresh meat and vegetables: Thanks to installations built to survive the war, farmable land has been preserved in biomes underground. Unmutated crops are cultivated and grown for a sustainable source of fruits and vegetables. A portion of this valuable product is traded to Los Verdugos for meat and water, keeping citizens with enough Greenbacks better fed than anyone else in the wasteland.

Rad Radio- A collection of works over the past two centuries. Although performed by a variety of hired artists, they are managed and recorded by Jameson O Canain. Few things make the actual cut for the radio as most appreciate live performances over static, but it is a unique platform to intertwine propaganda in between music. The studio is protected from radiation to preserve the integrity of the recordings, but it also serves as a safe haven for smoothskin artists. This is the only place in the Rad Farm that a human can get a taste of the high life, and they must be quite talented and willing to work to even have a shot. Once they make the cut however, they can expect a highly pampered life albeit with little to no actual freedom. Treated much like expensive pets, they are usually sterilized and given a thourough work over by a medical team. They are then free to mingle with each other without the bother of having to find someone who can deliver a baby in a city where they haven't been born in two centuries, or deal with them spreading diseases amongst each other.

Churches

Something that is surprising to most is that this city of vice also holds a number of places for religious communities to come together and worship. Although many offer salvation for some meaningless gesture or monetary donation, there are plenty of earnest followers that have dedicated their lives to becoming better people through their teachings.

Although some of their morally questionable behaviors happen behind closed doors, a great cathedral has been restored by some of the most affluent members of society to house the Scions. Many humans make pilgrimages here despite the dangerous journey to make the transition into becoming a ghoul. It is the most popular religion in the city, offering many guilt-free pleasures and reassurances of salvation in exchange for little personal effort. Followers that make sufficient contributions are often invited to receive blessed radiation directly from their leader, a glowing one that has paved the way into human conversions.

Built on the outskirts of the city, this hospital offers aid to weary travelers often too poor to afford treatments inside the city itself. Many find free lodgings and meals in exhange for hearing the message of Unity. Those interested in joining can find information on taking the pilgrimage to the Verdant Abyss and learning the skills of a wasteland surgeon. This promise of this knowledge and a purpose drives many to take the journey north, though few have been known to return once they take up the new mantle of missionary. Those without skills or even mobility are welcomed as well, usually to serve as cooks, janitors, or representatives to lure in more acolytes. Those with visible mutations can also find secret aid here, and though it is not advertised, many are scouted and protected from societal persecution.

Although regarded as dangerous fanatics eleven months out of the year, in July of every season a nomadic tribe stays at a shrine built in the leaking nuclear reactor of the Rad Farm. They are sworn to pacifism during this time and are permitted to enter the city to trade, although they are restricted from entering certain sections to avoid conflicts. They are rumored to be searching for someone, and go through great lengths to preserve this uneasy relationship with the city. This is usually tolerated due to bribes and favors done for whoever currently hold the position of mayor, but also out of fear of retaliation should their requests ever be denied.
