Liam Penner

Born in a distant land far to the north, his tribe was so large that it didn't face much competition over territory or supplies. This allowed for people to ponder their existence more than many other communities that were struggling day to day just to survive. Cultivating a wide array of mushrooms in a network of pre-war sewage tunnels and metros, his people had a staple food which used many of these various fungi as a base. Inevitably this led to the rediscovery of psilocybin and a new form of 'wasteland shaman' was born.

Usually reserved for elders or those unable to work physical jobs, these men and women served as impartial mediators when disputes among the tribe would arise. Given plenty of food and enough drugs to keep them in a constant state of euphoria, it was difficult to successfully bribe one, and even an attempt was grounds for exile. An underground society, most able-bodied members mined out new living spaces and resources until the age of fifty. When Liam reached this age, he had a vision of his destiny.

Requesting to travel to a hostile region no one from the tribe had ever seen, he proclaimed that his pilgrimage would secure their future indefinitely. Awed by his faith, Liam was given full support of the elders and allowed to embark on his quest to the Great Dust Bowl. Once arriving at Rattlesnake Jim's Sarsaparilla Plant it was clear to him he was on the right track when he heard the rumors of the Cult of the Glow and their strange mutated fungal spores. Resolving to capture samples to transport back to his homeland, Liam has set down roots among the outcasts here to find the right group of people to aid him in his journey.
