Vesk Varik

Vesk's Character Sheet

The clutch of eggs he came from was the last to be laid before Frank Horrigan and his fellow enclave soldiers attacked. Pushed to the wayside away from the nest Vesk’s egg sat, hidden away by the matriarch in an attempt to save any offspring. It was later found and picked up by an Enclave soldier as a trophy of their triumph and taken back to their base in secret. It was assumed the egg was infertile and was just to serve as a trophy the soldier was moved east and he took the egg with him to his new station. Eventually the egg hatched Vesk much to the dismay of the Enclave. After much deliberation it was decided that he would be kept for experimentation and training to see if he was fit to serve as a special unit within the Enclave. His formative years were difficult, rigorous invasive tests, isolation, brutal training, and general hatred aimed toward him made things brutally uncomfortable. It was then that he decided he needed to free himself from Enclave captivity before he ended up a mindless slave to the Enclave and had a “domestication unit” slapped on his head. Sympathizers to his cause were few but there was one in particular he owes much to a Doctor by the name of Ava. She provided him the tools and know how of how to escape the base. He also received her lab coat to conceal his form from those that do not pay close attention. She risked getting caught several times but fortunately her treachery was never suspected. Plans were laid, and eventually that plan was enacted. With little incident he managed an escape via vertibird (which promptly ran out of fuel as it had little to begin with) and fled into the eastern wastes, relying only on his formidable stature, instincts, and terrifying visage to keep him alive.

It was in the wastes that he developed most of his skills and a crippling addiciton for Nuka cola. This addiction for the sugary carbonated drink ran so deeply that almost all objectives were forgotten when presented with the chance of getting even a single bottle just to down it immediately. In his travels he picked up many skills, namely how to open locked doors and hack terminals that may be hiding goodies out in the wasteland. His travels eventually lead him to Nuka City where now it’s clear he has found other misfits like himself, maybe some people would be willing to accept him, if they could they’d be people worth staying with.

Not only Vesk’s home, but also his camouflage. Without this conversion of this garbage truck and the cab’s tinted windows this deathclaw would almost certainly have been shot down long ago by nervous settlers or hungry poachers. Pretty handy with his claws despite being of the intelligent variety of his species, he spends some time hunting at night when he can hide under his cloak for enough skinwig meat to last him for days. Stalking his way past the camps, he can’t help but overhear a rumor of a caravan that is recruiting anyone willing to earn their keep, even mutants. Investigating further he decided to take his time getting to know them, after all you never can be too careful. Unfortunately his hand would be forced when a few of the locals began sniffing around his truck, forcing him to have to take a leap of faith on these strangers.
