Edward VII (r. 1035 AF – 1062 AF) – Edward’s reign was first blighted by the Bobcat Plot, then the Second Simian War (which to his credit, Edward handled with true competence). Also notable is the rise and fall of Sir Cearbhall Kingshield, one of the greatest knights of all time, who joined his King’s Shields for a time. A competent and successful king (due to his success against various challenges), the most significant issue of his reign came after the death of his son in 1061, only shortly before his death. With his health mysteriously failing and no other heirs available, Edward left the monarchy in a precarious position.
