Infrastructure
The Canals of Camille
The city of Camille is a stunning example of how human innovation has reshaped nature. Its canal system is vast, a web of waterways running through both the city and the countryside, providing transportation, irrigation, and water for the populous. The canals are bordered by cobbled pathways, and some of the larger ones even serve as avenues for trade vessels. The movement of water is constant, and the sound of it flowing over stone is a constant in the background.
Points of interest
The Market of the Four Waters
Located at the convergence of four major canals, this bustling marketplace is where merchants from all corners of Berthe and beyond gather to sell wares, including textiles, livestock, pottery, and exotic goods. The market is always vibrant with activity, particularly during the evening, when lamps illuminate the canals and the air is filled with voices and music.
Tourism
Camille boasts a grand greenhouse, filled with rare and beautiful flowers and plants. The head horticulturalist strives to cultivate new plants, and many come to see the wonders. Some who visit are more interested in the buttefly wing, which is filled with fantastic butterflies from across the world.
Camille also has a grand library, full of hundreds of works of fact and fiction.
Geography
The Coastline
Here, the landscape is more complex than the rest of the Grasslands, with salt marshes and coastal wetlands sprawling outward. The land gently slopes toward the sea, creating natural harbors that have been long cultivated by the people of Berthe. The shores are often jagged, with exposed cliffs and rocky outcrops, where waves crash and saltwater mist rises into the air. However, much of the coast is given over to human ingenuity, with the canal systems extending all the way to the docks of Camille’s harbors, facilitating trade.
