Bovitons

While initially referring to the cattle sold from the seven gated slaughterhouse known as Thelbico, the Bovitons (as we know them) are a race of contentious hog-people who use their immense strength and expertise in the dirt to become the best construction workers and pre-fab settlement builders in the sector. 

During the Pantheon Hegemony, the Oygimenos (as they were originally) were used by Artemis to  punish impious or rebellious villages.  

While the planning for the Invasion of the Progenitors, Aeonia convinced the Oygimenos to kidnap their mistress to distract her brother Apollo in exchange for Thelbico. 

The pigs agreed to help. But when the time came, they instead killed Artemis and chased her loyal Eubedons out of the region.

Frustrated but appreciative, the Hellecians helped the hog-people expel the Mycestians out of Thelbico. In their wild nature, they drove everyone out of the walled slaughterhouse and turned it to rumble.

What stopped them was the Helio-Apollan Binary Supernovae. Karoj-Menos's oceans spilled out over Thelbico and swept everyone outside the walled settlement (including the original Botivons) into space.

Because of the god planet's fracturing and its location as the only nexus point for the DST Accelerator Lanes leading towards the Attican Core Worlds, Thelbico became a natural trade hub but also a lightning rod of conflict that kept it from outgrowing the Core Worlds.

Always being the stop gap for raiders, barbarians and predators who's real target were the Atticans.

As a result, a rivalry developed as the Core Worlders secretly thumbed their noses at the rowdy and disorderly Bovitons, calling them "uncultured swine."

Aside from Atticans and raiders, the biggest problem facing the Bovitons are the predators lurking around Thelbico's thick walls. The lions circling the seven gates known as the Nemacots.

While designed to keep predators out of the city proper, the seven gates acting as checkpoints and stop gaps. The Nemacots prowl the lands outside their protection, killing their livestock and waiting for an unsuspecting traveller to drop their guard.

In fact, capital punishment in Thelbico is dropping the criminal outside the gates to let the lions finish them off.

All their folk heroes come as lion slayers, bearing a club that makes up the cluster's heraldry.

During the series, the Bovitons will be experiencing changes in Thelbico as their King Oygipus experiences their versions of "Oedipus Rex", "Antigone" and eventually "Seven Against Thebes" where the Nemacots breech the gates and force the survivors to flee their homes.
