Nobility Vs Organisations
Each of the noble houses have some kind of duty and matching legal jurastiction within the city.   Many organisatations also have a duty and matching legal jurastiction. Organisational heirarchies often ultimately report to multiple noble houses, a relationship in the hands of a skilled individual, that sometimes enhances their freedom from the nobility.  
The Royal House
The head of the royal house, Sultan Kazem Karim II, is the absolute monarch of the City of Brass. The Royal House lives in the Orichalcum Palace. All great houses owe them fealty.  
The Great Houses
The most powerful houses of the City of Brass. Each:
  • They owe fealty to the Sultan
  • Each oversees part of the city
  • Each has unique legal powers
  • Each has multiple noble houses who owe fealty to them, generally branches of their family.
The eight great houses are the most powerful houses of the city of brass. They owe fealty to the Sultan.  
The Noble Houses
Each Noble House owes fealty to a great house. They generally have standing due to a skillset, ownership of an important building or locatoin, assets, or connectoins.
