Loxodon

The humanoid elephants called loxodons are often oases of calm even the busiest or roughest environments. They hum or chant in sonorous tones and move slowly or sit in perfect stillness. if provoked to action, loxodons are true terrors- bellowing with rage, trumpeting and flapping their ears. Their serene wisdom, fierce loyalty, and unwavering conviction are tremendous assets to those they work with.

History

Loxodon tribes lived in Osirion from the time of Nethys and Azghaad's uniting of the tribes of Osirion. In the early days of the empire, they were instrumental in the construction of the first Pyramids and many Osiriani monuments. Learning from the ways of Old Mage Jetembe, the Loxodons learnt magic primarially in the form of druidism with many of their number forming the druids of Osirion.

Qadiran Invasion

After the Qadiran Invasion, Loxodons lost their two main professions in Osirion. They were hunted as magic users for being commonly druids, and, owing to their fierce loyalty, they would not perform their masonry on Qadiran monuments. Many fled Osirion to the Mawangi Expanse where many jungle dwelling Luxodons live, fled to other areas of the Osiriani empire, or relocated to other regions in need of druids.

As they live for centuries, many Loxodons remember the Qadiran invasion, or have heard of it first hand from their older generation.

Society

Tribes of Loxodon in Osirion today are rare, most you encounter have joined another group.

Relentlessly Loyal

Loxodons believe in the value of community and life. Loxodons believe that the members of a group have a responsibility to look out for each other. Once they joined a group, or bond with other individuals in any capacity, loxodons devote themselves to maintaining that bond. They coordinate their efforts and are often willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the group. They expect reciprocal loyalty and commitment from the other members of their communities and can be severe in their disappointment when their trust is betrayed. The primary difference between loxodons who join different groups is their sense of the size of the community they belong to.
  • For the Druidic luxodons of old, their community was the world and all living beings in it-everything valuable, meant to live in harmony, and interdependent.
  • For loxodons apart of a settlement, their community could be their gang, district, or the entire settlement. Some see it as the a society of different peoples who need adherence to law and order so they can function together.
  • Some loxodons see Osirion as their community, weather that be just True Osiriani, all osiriani raced people living in Osirion, or even an amurrun who's family has lived in Geb for a thousand years.
  • Other loxodons see their community as their close allies, gang or organisation alone, with its interests taking priority over those of any other group.

Gifted Stoneworkers

Loxodons are tireless, patient artisans with an unrivaled intuition about their craft. Although they make nurturing spiritual leaders, their gift for stonework is so ingrained that they are often at a loss when they try to impart that knowledge to others. Among the Druids of old, it often fell to loxodons to build their magnificent structures.

Each of their hands has four thick digits, and their feet are the flat-bottomed, oval-shaped feet of elephants. Like that of an elephant, a loxodon's trunk is a useful appendage.
