The Tri-Planet Directorate

Initially established in the early 2500's, the main purpose of the TPD was to unite the existing human colonies on Venus and Mars under a single flag. Although initially resisted by the independent colonies of Mars and Venus, the economic and defensive benefits soon became clear. Ultimately the TPD is responsible for the oversight of local and planetary governments whilst having very little influence in the politics themselves. The directorate consists of the Executive Directorate (Name), Senior Military Director, Chief Engineer and Infrastructure Director, Chief Medical Director and the Communications Office. All of whom are elected by a seperate board of independent citizens representing their home colonies, rotating on a 5 yearly basis.

To unite the colonies of Sol under a single banner to provide prosperity for all people of the free colonies.

    Demography and Population

The Directorate oversees the three primary colonies of Sol (Four if you count Luna), and as such has direct influence within the governments of these colonies. Overall the population of all four colonies exceeds 34.6 billion. That number rises to 35.9 billion if you count the various orbital stations and colonies that are scattered throughout the solar system.

    Military

The Directorate maintains control over much of Sol's military forces for the combined colonies. The vast network of military bases and barracks dotting the lunar surface can actually be seen from Earth, even if the vast amount of light pollution that now encompasses practically the entire planet.   Planet-side the colony governments control their ground forces whilst The Directorate also maintains a moderate separately marked military force of their own within the colonies.

    Technological Level

The Directorate maintains numerous secret research bases located both in orbit and planetside. The nature of the research conducted at these facilities is highly classified and is surrounded by numerous controversial conspiracy theories. Facility 51, located just outside of Venera colony on Venus is the most secretive with many speculating as to the nature of the experimentation that goes on there. Stories of people going missing in the dead of the night and unsightly horrors being spotted in the wild mists are rife within the colonies but are largely dismissed by both The Directorate the local governments. The offical cover story is that Facility 51 is a weather monitoring station.

    Foreign Relations

Although the colonies of Sol have been largely cooperative with The Directorate, there are numerous civilian groups within these colonies seeking complete independence from The Directorates oversight due to suspected political meddling and corruption on their part to maintain Pro-Directorate governments.   The Martian Colonies are incredibly Pro-Directorate, as it the majority of the population due to the economic benefits that trade with Earth brings. Their focus on scientific research and development also means that the colonies are heavily protected and access to the colonies is highly restricted.   Venus on the other hand has become a bit of a wildcard in the last decade. With Anti-Directorate sentiment becoming more and more prevalent within the general population many believe that it is only a matter of time before they submit a bid for independence. Nobody really knows how such a bid will work out for the colonies of Venus but the general consensus is that Earth will not allow it.   Luna is a direct colony of Earth and the main seat of power for The Directorate. Much of the solar systems military personnel are also based on the various strategic bases dotted across the lunar surface.

    Infrastructure

The Directorate maintains all non-private orbital colonies and outposts within the system as well as maintaining much of the crucial infrastructure that connects the various colonies to the wider solar system including space elevators, orbital docks, shipyards and the primary access point in and out of the system, the Maison Wormhole.
