Breaching The Glass Veil

The Glass Veil is a theoretical barrier that separates the physical realm of Altwaus from the metaphysical reality beyond it. Nearly impossible to study, the concept of the Glass Veil remains more grounded in divine scripture than in true scientific arcana, but nonetheless plays a pivotal role in the preservation of Altwaus. 
The metaphysical realm contains high chaotic and destructive energy, and is said by some to be the realm of Synmatre Demons, an angelic form of divine life that allegedly was cast into shadow and evil for their actions against The Goddess. 
Should this barrier be breached, the energy (and potentially demons) repelled by the barrier will begin to seep into Altwaus - often in explosively destructive fashion.

Manifestation

There are many factors that impact the direct manifestation of a breach in The Glass Veil. The underlying conditions in the arcanosphere, the nature of the breaching catalyst, and which side of the veil the breach occurred from all influence the nature of the manifestation. Once a breach has occurred, direct influence on the breach to either reduce, stabilize, or even expand the breach will also impact the specific manifestation. 
Most commonly, breaches are observed as small portals of colorful arcana that dispel bright light, sound, and churn out destructive energy. While physical matter has never been proven to pass through the Glass Veil, it has done little to stem superstition about synmatre trespassers among the simpler sentient of Altwaus.

Localization

Breaches in the veil are poorly understood, however both confirmed and speculative breaches are nearly always in areas of high magical volatility. Arcane Laylines and sites of intense spellcasting in form of rituals or magical duels have been know to press heavily against the frayed edges of The Glass Veil potentially causing breaches years or even centuries later.
