Hothom, Captain of The Periwinkle

Boisterous, angry, and probaly drunk - the captain of The Periwinkle comes across as a rough and intolerant brute but is in fact an excellent captain and generous employer. He has been working the better part of his life on one merchant ship or another, and is eager to share what he has learned in his trade before it's time for him to retire.

A thick mustache to match his heavy eyebrows, he often walks about shirtless (except in the coldest Kaldari nights) where he lets his impressive gut hang out shamelessly.

While technically a private contractor, Hothom holds a significant debt with a Kinderstarke businessman and several wealthy Kaldari investers. A good portion of what he makes gets split between paying them off and ensuring his crew get their fair cut.

Accomplishments & Achievements

A man born with nothing and given even less - Hothom earned his spot as Captain of the Periwinkle through hard work and determination. A lifelong sailor, he has worked on nearly ever type of merchant ship in Alwaus as everything from a deckhand to captain.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Having spent his life working his way up from a deckhand, Hothom has seen the best and worst of life at sea - and hopes to provide better for his two young daughters. He has been carefully building up a pile of silver back home in Rystanburg, and is hoping to be able to payoff The Periwinkle in the next two years. Once he's done that, he'll be able to hire a captain (Nayara, he hopes) to man the ship in his stead - so he can spend his time raising his daughters and ensuring they get the opportunities he never did.

Virtues & Personality perks

Despite his rough mannerisms, he is well liked and respected by his crew. He cares for them like his extended family, and is still rather upset about one of his crewmen drowning last season.
