Immortal Linguistic

Seeing a need to unite the now burgeoning lesser races of Altwaus, the immortal Alvain and Kinderstärke species saw the need to spread the use of The Common Language to cultures beyond their own. While they were more than capable as individuals to learn the dozens, if not hundreds, of languages spoken by the new cultures growing around them, they wisely foresaw a need to provide a common form of communication that could be relied on for diplomacy and trade - not just with the immortals themselves, but also amongst the lesser cultured species as well.    To accomplish this goal, volunteers from among the Alvain and Kinderstärke journey out to live among the lesser species for a time with the intent to educate them in the common tongue and encourage the spread of the language amongst their people. The result was ultimately successful, and the Common Tongue is spoken by nearly every lesser species and culture in Altwaus.

Career

Qualifications

Alvain and Kinderstärke who were selected for this task were chosen for their aptitude for The Common Language as well as their passion and patience for interacting with the lesser cultures of Altwaus.

Perception

Purpose

The effort to spread the usage of The Common Language was made to connect, and then ultimately control, the different species of Altwaus. By establishing this common language, the immortals could influence the fledging mortal races to ensure their cultures developed in a manner that suited them.    The theory was that once the language had spread to a significant portion of the lesser species, then the momentum it created would generate a demand for the language that would ensure it could be spread organically and without the need for direct intervention from a linguistic.

Social Status

The presence of an immortal within the various lesser species that was acting in such a beneficial and prestigious role further cemented the concept of immortal hierarchy within these cultures, and solidified the foundations of what would eventually be referred to as The High Strata.    These immortal educators were revered as saints and celebrities by the cultures they walked among, and enjoyed privileges and respect that was equal, if not greater, than that awarded to the culture's own leadership.

Demographics

While the vast majority of Immortal Linguistics were of course Alvain, some were also Kinderstärke, especially within the human tribes of [Cornucopian descent.
