The Wächtammer (Wach-am-er)
A zealous group of Kinderstärke] who refused to lay down arms against The Alvain in The 2nd Immortal War, The Wächtammer instead rallied together to protect the ironclad companions that fought besides them against the alvain. Seen by the alvain as abomination of life that existed as an insult to The Goddess, the circumstances of the treaty signed between Alvantes and Stolzetürm saw a worldwide ban of all forms of Arcane Intelligence.
Many of the kinderstärke had fought and died beside their ironclad companions. Many bonds were formed across both sides. So when the order came down to dismantle the remaining ironclads (even those that had obeyed the orders to withdraw) many members of Stolzetürm society flat our refused. The schism was a great embarrassment for the nation, who sought to minimize the rumors of insurrection and violence reaching back to Alvantes.
The two groups nearly went to war against each other - if not for a decisive maneuver by Stolzetürm that resulted in the capture of many high ranking sympathizers within Kinderstärke society. Accusations of treason and terrorism were levied against the sympathizers - who collectively called themselves The Wächtammer. With their leadership captured and their names exposed, many of the Wächtammer fled their homes in Stolzetürm - with the last of the true arcane intelligences in tow.
The Wächtammer continued their crusade against both the Alvain and Stolzetürm for millennia afterwards - an embarrassing stain on the otherwise pristine image the elder races display to their younger kin since The 2nd Immortal War. In truth the Wächtammer still raise the ire of the old Alvain, and many kinderstärke simply refuse to acknowledge of the existence of this group beyond it's existence as a minor political faction fiften thousand years ago.
In truth The Wächtammer are likely long extinct, with a verified member of their organization having not been discovered in nearly two thousand years. Most of the newer species are simply unaware of the division between the mountain dwelling species, and all but the most well-versed scholars in [The Thirteen Kingdoms would even think the name Wächtammer sounded vaguely familiar. Still though, remnants of the faction's activities after exile can still be found in various hidden corners and holes in Alwaus. When such discoveries do occur, Stolzetürm is naturally quick to cover the whole affair up, both to ensure their reputation and history remains unblemished and that whatever experiments the Wächtammer were conducting in Eastern Alwaus never comes to the light of day.
