It comes in two forms, a colored dust but if boiled in water a liquid kind of paste is created which is used to coat or infuse with objects, the density is changed depending on type of object.
Origin & Source
It is found by crushing the dye beetles chitin into a dust and boiling in water.
Life & Expiration
If in the dust form it can last a considerable amount of time if left covered and protected, but lasts 4-6 weeks when put into its liquid form before solidifying.
History & Usage
Everyday use
The discovery of this item was by Iphelele who used it for paintings and body art by using the pure dye on their chitin and wings to make works of art. Outside of skull island due to its rarity and price is used for high class goods and items.
Manufacturing & Products
Making pure dye is a simple enough technique that can be done by any dye maker in the world, but due to it being of pure color it takes an expert to transfer the pure color in full to items of various degrees.

Trade & Market
This item is freely traded in the upper layer of Ipey but trade contracts have also been made with Ipey supplying them outside of Bogmire in safer areas of skull island but braver souls will seek much better prices by going to Ipey themselves and those with a death wish or a massive debt will dye trying to obtain a dye beetle themselves.

Highly Priced outside of Ipey, adventures and merchants would dye for it.
