Joseph Thyme

The biological father of Pasadena, parter of Rill Trellisk, and current body of The Emperor.
Joseph's grandfather was adopted by a long-lived Kenku monk, and his family stayed with that same monk in The Tre until one day Imperial soldiers kicked in their door and took Joseph into custody. To his surprise, he was made Steward to the Emperor.
The only person Joseph was able to relate to at court was the young apprentice wizard, Rill Trellisk. They bonded over their negative experiences of empire and class, and wrote pamphlets about how things could be improved, somewhat.
They fell in love, got engaged, and Rill became pregnant, but before they could put together a true rebellion or escape together, Joseph was found to be one of the pamphlet's writers. He was taken by the empire. Allies assumed he'd been executed, but Rill uncovered the truth.
The emperor has used technology stolen from dragonborn to experiment on people like his brother, David, and Rosemary Thyme. But he cannot grant himself that same long life; the explosion that vaporised his mother has caused some sort of curse; his body decays over and over, and giving himself a longer life only prolongs that decay. Instead, he must switch body, using a body genetically close to his own: a descendant of his sister and her sons, or someone who bears a close genetic resemblance to the original Humans who landed on Tor Yu.
Joseph was, unfortunately, a match. The emperor took him over, apparently erasing his soul and wearing him like a suit.
The body that has been decaying on the throne of The Infinite Empire for the last fourteen years is Joseph Thyme.
