Rill Trellisk
The Dean of Bach Avon Wheesht, Rill Trellisk is a talented archmage, but a less than average administrator. She’s friendly with the student body, but regularly loses files, misplaces information and forgets appointments.
Dean Trellisk holds personable seminars for those interested in the art of magic. These may look like outdoor barbecues with her favourites, but she even invites students she doesn’t know yet! But woe betide anyone who underestimates the easily underestimate-able Dean; rumours from the capital suggest she's got a 68-0 streak going when it comes to winning formal magical duels.
As of recent events, the characters believe her to be the mother of Pasadena and the writer of at least some of The Pamphlets.
After an emotional discussion with the players, they know her to be the biological mother of Pasadena.
Rill grew up in an orphanage in The Tre, but showed a prodigious talent for magic that gave her the opportunity to escape her poverty-ridden background and make it over to Bach Avon Wheesht as a young woman. At BAW she learned more magic than she had any business to, and was scouted to join a graduate program at the univeristy in Miercna. Here she showed talent more advanced than the professors could teach, and she was recommended as the apprentice court magician to The Emperor.
It was here that she met Joseph Thyme. A young man, plucked from obscurity like herself. They soon fell in love and began plotting treason by writing several seditious pamphlets, attempting to whip up rebellion and getting busy.
Joseph was discovered and was taken into Imperial custody. Rill soon learned that he had been taken by The Emperor and was being worn like a meat suit. In order to escape this horrifying fate, Rill used two modify memory spells, both on the old Court Wizard, meaning that the person who knew her best at court forgot her. She managed to call in a favour and was smuggled out of Miercna on Captain Stern's ship, where she gave birth to Pasadena and begged him to kill her, and then escaped.
What Rill did between advocating for infanticide and becoming dean of BAW is uncertain.
She spilled her tragic backstory to the players when it looked like her daughter/the heir to The Emperor was dead, and jumped out a window when Pasadena came back to Haven and she was offered a chance to get to know her. So, pretty normal.
Rill has pointed out to the party that the The Voice of the Goddess may be the Emperor's next body choice.
