Alti Mare

Alti Mare is the capital city of the Marian Kingdom, and is located in the narrow channel between Mako Island and the eastern shores of Wren. The city itself lies on the bottom of the sea floor, surrounded by a large cavern that was formed when the city sunk into the ocean after think sinking of the Kraken near the beginning of the Second Age. It now stands as one of the few megatropolis under the sea, and is home to thousands of aquatic people, all joining together to form a mighty underwater kingdom.

Demographics

Alti Mare is home almost exclusively to the aquatic peoples of The Reach. The two most dominate groups are Tritons well as Water Genasi, but there are also large populations of both Lizard Folk as well as Tortle here. There are always a handful of various different people within The Reach, but they always require some sort of aide in order to fully function within Alti Maren society.

Government

Alti Mare is ruled by the Marian Kingdom , and serves as the capital for the city state. All who reside inside of Alti Mare permanently must become citizens of the Kingdom, and be beholden to it's laws.

History

Alti Mare did not always exist at the bottom of the sea, but was instead a thriving community of people in a lowland marsh on top of a swampy island. It was here that the survivors of the Cataclysm made their way and started new civilizations in the wake of the apocalypse. When the people of Old Salt came together to vanquish the Kraken below the sea, the aftershock sunk the island below the sea. Many died, but the survivors of the sinking decided to rebuild their home below the water. Overtime the city was built brand new below the waters, and it grew into the metropolis it has become overtime.
