Keepers of the Chain
Keepers of the Chain are followers of Dovannamir who are dedicated to the protection of the Reach from the eternal threat that is The Kraken. These followers have formed into small sects throughout Old Salt that attempt to work together in an attempt to foil plans that are made by those who do the bidding of the Kraken. To the outside the Keepers of the Chain are shrouded in mystery, all that is really rumored to be true is that the original Keepers were those who sealed the chains when the Kraken was first banished.
Culture
For hundreds of years, the Keepers of the Chain has been made up of loosely affiliated sects, broadly working together towards the same goal. In reality this looked more like groups of paranoid individuals who feared the Children of the Kraken could be infiltrating their ranks at any moment. This fear has driven the Keepers for millennia, as many believe that if they are wiped out there is nothing stopping the return of the Kraken. Instead of large followings across Old Salt being dedicated to the Keepers, they work in secrecy with one another, rarely traveling in groups larger than a few dozen at most. It is just as common to see a sect of Keepers meeting with one another only when needed, and operating completely isolated from each other.
Worship
Keepers of the Chain worship Dovanumir , but often refer by one of his Deva, Father's Fortune. Through their devotion to him they believe that their path will be set to come into conflict with those who seek to return the Great Old One. The fractured natures of different sects of Dovanumir means that worship can often look quite different from member to member, but all Keepers must undergo some sort of rite of passage that signifies their destiny is to now seek out the Kraken in whatever way they could, and foil it's plans.
