Ridge Run

Ridge Run is the small town far out to the west near the base of the Blood Peak Mountains. It is where many of the mining villages come to trade their ores and precious minerals to bring gold back to their villages. It is spread out along a large ridge that lies at the base of a large trail that leads far up into the Blood Peak Mountains.

Demographics

Mostly humans live in Ridge Run there are mostly humans. There are a handful of orcs and other mountain fairing peoples, but humans remain the dominate race in the town and surrounding area.

Government

The town is run by a regional governor, who has authority over all of the local elders in the area. They are placed in this position by the Warden of the of the Ashen Hold. There is also a Commander who operates out of the town who is in control of all of the Brandt-Heart in the area, and hand selects the captains of each village.

Defences

The only notable defense of the town is the fort. It is known for it's famous iron doors to the keep of the fort that have never been broken through. The only downside of the castle is that the keep was not designed to house a town springing up around it, so not every person in the town would be able to hide inside the keep if the town is attacked.

Industry & Trade

There are two larger breweries that operate within Ridge Run that have been able to bring in enough gold to help elevate Ridge Run into a trading town for the area. Most people here either work for the breweries, have some sort of simple artisan craft, or are a trader.

Infrastructure

Town Hall – Has reports from Villages all over the area about the problems they are facing as well as planned ways of planting each crop field. Has a large map of the town center. Has a large center stage with pews for town hall discussions.   Temple to the Eternals – It has a large dome with statues to each of the Eternals with both William and Emily’s being the largest of the ten. Many of the people in this area are more religious than those found in Shattered Glass. A small apothecary is also run out of the Temple.   Fort of the Iron Daughter – This is where the Brandt Heart all stay in the village. There are currently twenty-two guards assigned to the town. There is a large table map in the middle of the building in which threats in the local area are written down   River Water Tavern – Run by a fairly old Orc who is the father of Martha Bronze, he opened this place up before most of the people lived here. It serves good food and strong beer. This is usually the last stop for any adventuring party that is planning on making it’s way up into the mountains, as Shattered Glass does not have the same amenities that this town has.   Bobert’s Odds and Ends; A small shop near the town hall, it is where many adventurers will sell of their goods they are not interested in before they set out from the journey. He also has many random things such as old relics from under the mountain, but nothing magic in nature. He has no idea what any of it says, and basically gages how much something is worth based on how interested someone is in it.

Guilds and Factions

Brandt Heart    Church of the Eternals

History

Originally only the fort was created to help send Brandt Heart into the mountain to fight the threats that lie within. After the area became more safe, mining villages began popping up, and many people flocked to the area around the fort as a means of protection. Since then the town has slowly grown, but the nature of the area means many people choose to live somewhat on their own.
The McCormick and Harris Rivalry
For years the McCormick family have dominated the local farming markets with their ability to sell wine, mead, and ale that is better than any other farms around here, essentially running them out of business. This has caused them to have many people who despise them, and their family. Especially because there are rumors that the McCormick Family had once collaborated with several families to develop their delicious wine and mead, but then blocked those families from sharing in the riches with them. The Harris Family is most known for their hatred of the McCormick family.   McCormick Family   Obadius – Father   He is a tall, lean, dark haired man with a beard that is well trimmed and sticks to his face. He has dark green eyes and wears dark clothes always with a suit coat over it. He is a stern patriarch of his family and throws his weight around town. Giving money to the governor in return for the Brandt-Heart. He cares for his family, but in a way that he sees them as a part of his property and cares for his property and not as children. He does not care for their dreams or aspirations, and only wants them to succeed him in his business he has helped create.   Belle McCormick – Mother   A short woman, who is thin with a rather pale complexion. She has long red hair and brown eyes. She wears long dresses that always seem to cover her feat and come in dark pastel colors. She loves her children dearly, and she unlike many other people in the town can tolerate her husband. He helps provide a good life for her children and he has always been good to them.   Addison McCormick – Daughter   She is the eldest of the two McCormick children. She is tall for a woman, taking after her father with a sharp jawline, dark brown hair and dark green eyes. She wears form fitting dresses that go down to her feat like her mother, but they are mixes of black, greys and other dark colors. She is quite astute when it comes to her family’s position within the town. She understands that many do not see her as shrewd or cunning and she uses this to her advantage.   Atticus McCormick – Son   He is shorter than his sister but has golden blonde hair with streaks of silver in them with milky white eyes. Upon his birth, rumors of him being a cursed child began to spring up around the town. He has never wanted attention, and he gets both for being a McCormick and also an Aasimar. All he really cares about is his relationship with the smiths daughter Erica.   Harris Family   Oliver Harris – Father    He is a man of average height with a beer belly, he has shaggy blond hair. Many people in the town get along with him but know he has got a real mean streak. He has a deep hatred for the McCormick’s and has been known to constantly talk about how Atticus brought a curse down on that family he swears. In reality, he began spiking their ale once Atticus was born and stole their formula to it to begin selling his own.   Imogen Harris – Mother   She is a slender woman with light brown hair that is constantly in a bow. She wear colorful dresses all of the year around and constantly gets along with everyone in town. She is known to be a bit of a gossip, but people always say it is mostly harmless. In reality she pushed her husband to begin messing with the McCormick’s once Atticus was born because she did not want to be in the shadow of a family that had no character.   Jack and Jane Harris – Twin Siblings   Both taking after their mother in slenderness but father in blond curly hair, the twins have similar soft round faces with blue eyes. They are around the same age as Atticus and used to be friends with him as they grew up, but began making fun of him when he started hearing voices in his head.
Notable Non-Player Characters:   Governor Marc Ter Stegen – A middle aged man with a good amount of charisma, he is a decisive leader. He will always look out for his people first before lending a helping hand, because the mountain has a strange way of biting people in the ass who leave themselves open to it.   Captain Martha Bronze – A strong half orc, she is the head of the Brandt Heart in the town. Unlike Marc, she is not always interested in what is the safest thing to do, and instead wants to do what is right. She is willing to put herself and her guards in harms way if it means protecting the innocent.   Priest Kylian – An old bald man, he is the most senior of the leadership in the area. He is gentle and kind but does not take well to those who do not respect the eternals in the way that he thinks that they should. He wants to help those who both show reverence to the Eternals as well as those who seek the betterment of his town.   Patrick Porto – The towns local smith, he was able to take up most of the business in the area after Williams father died a couple of years ago, but he is unsure if he will be able to hold onto it because he has seen some of Williams work and he seems as competent as his father if not better. He can be convinced to allow William to use his forge and possibly create.   Bobert – A older man, he is very affable and easy to get along with. He has one of the best magic shops in all of the Ashen Hold outside of Ash Drift itself. He does not sell any potions though, as he leaves that business to the Priest, he is much better at making them anyway. Many of the Priest in the Ashen Hold are trained in their seminary how to preform ritualistic healing as well as make simple healing potions.
