The Demon of Nalanmar

Table of Contents
Every child in Nalanmar knew the story of the demon. Of the unnatural creature that commanded the waves, nearly wiping the port town off the map. The mural in the old town hall had preserved its abominable appearance through the centuries.   Everyone knew the names of the three fishermen who had caught it, that one night on the beach. Knew the tale of how they spotted a lone figure walking up to the shore, and how appalled they were as they approached it. When the bright light of the Kaleidoscope revealed a haggard mass of claws and tentacles, skin as pale as Palia's robes. With too many eyes glowing a venomous green and fixed on the horizon as the enormous tidal wave approached.   Everybody shuddered at the description of its voice - the voice that was not heard by the ears, but felt inside your very skull. The voice that ordered the fishermen to stand down as the demon worked its sinister magic. But the fishermen would not be idle as the destructive wall of water came closer and closer. They bravely charged at the monster, disrupting the unholy ritual and pinning the culprit down to the ground. The waves subsided, and the town was saved.   And everyone knew the story of the soldiers that came weeks later, taking the abomination with them. But what became of it... no-one knows.
