Hillsurfers
Smaller and lighter than the heavy wagon chains with their tall masts, this vehicle of K'ul Goran is designed for couriers and other messengers who need to travel quickly across a permanently wind-swept landscape. Almost like a wooden bath on wheels with a single sail emerging from it, one or two K'ul Gorans can propel this cart forward at significant speed by angling the sail correctly with the winds generated by the rift to the Plane of Air in the center of the country.
Invented out of necessity in a previous war, this has become a staple replacement for more traditional beasts of burden like horses as the intense winds of the country make it an arduous experience for any creature seeking to simply walk from one place to another. These light carts are built for speed and little else. Post, more urgent diplomatic or administrative messages, or if someone simply needs to get somewhere in a hurry, the Hillsurfers are the fastest form of non-magical transportation around. People pay dearly to send a message or other cargo by them, but they are worth every copper.
Naturally, this has made them ideal tools for bandits, and roving bands of Hillsurfer outlaws can swoop down on smaller or slower prey swiftly and inescapably. Equally, for lighter and more transportable cargo like silks and gems, it is a perfect tool for smugglers to get where they need to go quickly, in the dead of night.
The carts are quite fragile however, and the dangerous speeds at which they travel make any accident incredibly deadly. Locals tell of great Hillsurfers - the riders who could outrun the wind itself and the daring feats they achieve. It is a dangerous profession, and so highly sought after by young, adventurous K'ul Gorans, much to the chagrin of their parents.
