K'ul Goran

The nation of K'ul Goran is the largest country by area thus far encountered by Daring Heights. Kundar may have a vast population, but all contained in one great metropolis and a handful of outlying villages. K'ul Goran boasts many settlements, ranging from small farming hamlets to great cities.   It is a nation founded and ruled by a strange combination of minotaurs and air genasi, and they have built a civilisation to rival any in Faerûn. Most (though not all) have sought to build a more structured society than their abyssal or elemental origins would suggest, and the mixing of their two peoples has created a wide range of shapes and forms, generally known as aerotaurs.   K'ul Goran is situated east-north-east across the The Sea of Tears from Port Ffirst, and has a demonstrably organised infrastructure. Roads and walled fields are placed in an organised manner across the country, and the architecture in general, though difficult to understand at first, is very clearly very well thought out.   Things to Know:
  • The Nation of Winds - a constant gale howls across the landscape of K'ul Goran. The thin boundary with the Plane of Air means that the whole country is structured to deal with this - streets are narrow and twisting to cut off the wind, Hillsurfers are a standard form of travel to turn the wind to their advantage. Stepping outside a city without being prepared for this will result in most of your gear being blown away.
  • The Ground Thirsts - [Update: This effect no longer happens following the end of the Giant War] a mysterious magical effect pervades the land. Any blood spilled on natural ground will be immediately absorbed into the earth, leaving no trace behind. There is a slight draining effect here, such that any injury to one's feet in K'ul Goran can prove fatal as the ground slowly tries to leech the blood from their veins. Boots are well built in K'ul Goran for this reason, including for the minotaur population.
