The Errant Guard

The military of K'ul Goran is large and well organised, comprised of hundreds and thousands of soldiers. The most elite unit however, is the most specialised, the most prestigious and has been known to shape the fate of the nation with their deeds.   Entry into this unit comes only through a year's service in the Errant Guard. Someone who volunteers to join the Errant Guard is given a relatively simple task: travel the country and providing their aid and services for free to any who ask for it.   The members of the Errant Guard are generally (though not exclusively), the most powerful or talented warriors and mages of the wider armed forces, as such they form essentially a band of charitable adventurers, often travelling together to provide greater aid. The idea is to provide a period of true service to K'ul Goran, in which time they see the whole land and get to know its people. They are to give aid wherever it is asked for, and so this can be anything from clearing out the local cave of goblins to helping clean a farmer's barn. There are limits, fortunately, and there are some tasks the Errant Guard can refuse, though not many.   As a result, in times of crisis they are the most flexible and mobile tactical fighting force that K'ul Goran can field, and are often deployed at key points where the most senior elite units cannot currently reach.   The following is a list of some of the Errant Guard members that have been encountered by adventurers from the Dawnlands:
  • Raksus Highwatch, Minotaur Cleric of Melil (Deceased, Vanguard cultist)
  • Cane Clovenstep, Aerotaur Fighter
  • Kassandra Farcleaver, Minotaur Ranger
  • Torven Cirrusstalker, Aerotaur Rogue (Deceased, Vanguard cultist)
  • Ventria, Air Genasi Storm Sorcerer
  • Zeph, Air Genasi Fighter
  • Chloris Skysplitter, Aerotaur Evocation Wizard
  • Cory Trendsetter, Minotaur Bard
