King Bartimus II of Chevalia dies of complications from a hunting accident. His son Siegel III takes the throne, at age 13.
In the winter of 491 AMN, King Bartimus II of clan Oddom finally succumbed to an infection. The infection, spreading from his shoulder, had been obtained in a hunting accident with a deer. The infection proved to be fatal despite the administering of medication and surgical treatment. The king's archmage and wife had died 6 years ago, and a replacement had still not been acquired. His surviving widow is King Regent for his son, Stinthad, who has taken the royal name Siegel III, unused since the first kings.
