Ogdoad "the Eightfold"
Before the old Khemitian gods, there was the Ogdoad. 8 primordial deities (Naunet and Nun, Amaunet and Amun, Hauhet and Heh, and Kauket with Kek) that controlled the chaos that the earliest Libynos tribes lived through. The masculine dieties had frog like heads, the feminine had snake like heads.
Nu & Nun – Embodied the great watery abyss
Kek & Kauket –embodied darkness
Amun and Amunet – Embodied Wind and Invisibility
Hauhet and Heh -Embodied Eternity and Infinity
The world was condinuosly dark and scary to the tribes. where it was almost constant twilight with the infinite galaxy of Hey staring down from above and the dark waters of Nu, waiting for them at the edge of the world.
The 8 lost control of the world when a mortal, Montu, sacrificed himself and merged with Amun, becoming the new day as Amun-Re and from that event, all the gods were born. Of the 7 remaining primordial deities, 6 were, defeated by Amun-Re and they gave up their powers to form new gods. powerless, they fled to the farthest corners of the world, away from men and gods. Kek would not go quietly. wounded by the "New Day", he continuese to plan and attempt to revert the world into the dark endless abyss that it was.
