Avatar of Space

"Avatar of Space" is the official name to a rare and poorly understood legendary creature. They have been referred to by many names; "Cosmic Destroyer", "Messenger of Space" and "Starblinder" to name a few. An Avatar of Space is a creature born of the cosmic force and deity Space, part of the Universal Triad (Space, Time and Arcannus). Avatars of Space are ferocious beasts that bring about devastation and destruction wherever they go in the universe. Documented sightings of these beasts have only been scattered and eluded to throughout history, and many aspects of their being is made up of speculation or circumstantial evidence.

Description and Form

Avatars of Space are cosmically huge creatures or beings. While documented sizes seem to vary, they are big enough to consume entire planets, and in some cases, possibly stars. The structure and shape of these creatures is so massive and ever-changing that it is hard to document or explain. Massive and black, they absorb light and matter, growing ever bigger as they traverse the universe. They are often depicted with tentacle-like appendages; tendrils of cosmic black energy that snatch matter and assist in its feeding. Sometimes they appear to glitter with stardust, and are often shown to be covered with hundreds of thousands of eyes, ever alert and watchful of their surroundings. Thought to be essentially immortal, they do not seem to age and their lifespan appears to only be dictated by their purpose.
Despite their cosmic size and apparent mass, the creatures seem to not have a gravitational pull of their own, defying the usual rules of gravity that exist elsewhere in the universe. Some speculate that the creatures don't truly "exist" in the material plane, and have a psudo-existance that extends onto multiple dimensions of reality, allowing them to manipulate the forces of the universe in ways that benefit them.

Origins

It is only known that Avatars of Space are sent by the being that is Space because they are surprisingly talkative, and this is the information they have given those who have contacted them. Much of what is known of Space and it's Avatars comes from the Avatars themselves.

The Watchful One

The most famous of the Avatars that have contacted mortal beings was The Watchful One, an Avatar of Space who approached the world in 13,020 SA. The Watchful One was unique, as its closeness to the world brought a more powerful conduit and connection to Space. The rebirth of an ancient Space-worshipping cult known as The Constellar was brought about by a corrupt and ambitious triadic cleric of Space, Tirrius Lark. Teaching his disciples how to harness the divine and cosmic powers of Space, he manipulated them into believing that their power came from The Watchful One directly, and that the creature was going to bring about the glorious beginning of the Third Age. He had a sinister ulterior motive, however; he had devised a system of powerful magic channelling using Rifts and Weavetears, blood magic and children infused with Arcannus altering serums. With this system, he had planned a ritual that would use a rare planetary alignment and the gathering of thousands of onlookers to capture the Arcannus of the rapidly approaching Watchful One, "saving" the world and becoming a god in the process.
